Indications

The indications are based on the antibacterial activity and pharmacokinetic properties of azithromycin. They take into account both the clinical studies conducted with this medicine and its place among the antibacterial products currently available. They are limited to infections caused by organisms defined as susceptible: - Documented group A beta-haemolytic streptococcal tonsillopharyngitis, as an alternative to beta-lactam treatment, particularly when the latter cannot be used. - Bacterial superinfection of acute bronchitis. - Exacerbations of chronic bronchitis. - Oral and dental infections.
